A suspension clamp is used for supporting of over head cables, such as those used for power transmission lines and telephone lines. They are designed to:
Increase stability: Reduce the movement of conductors, especially in windstorm or storm conditions
Protect from damage: Keep cables from fouling or being damaged by environmental influences or by mechanical stress
Safety first: Maintain the reliability of electrical systems
Connectors conductors: Connections conductors, and suspension insulators
Suspension clamps are usually manufactured with galvanized steel that provides great corrosion and abrasion resistance. These clamps feature a lower rectangle that holds the conductor and an upper rectangle that fits into the constructing cone of the pole making this a shape designed to support the shoulder and transfer weight uniformly across the clamp.
There are single cable type suspension clamps, as well as bundle conductor type. Counterweights can be put in place to keep the conductor from flying up. Additionally, nuts and bolts can be applied alongside the clamps of the suspension to ensure better attachment with the conductors.
